REMOTE Sub-Study

New DELIVER-MS Sub-study ‘REMOTE’ (Remote Evaluation of Multiple sclerosis Outcomes Through Evaluation: a feasibility study) is enrolling the initial participants from the DELIVER-MS cohort.

DELIVER-MS participants entering the long-term extension study at four UK centres are to be offered the opportunity to take part in a sub-study investigating remote (at home) clinical assessments. Remote assessments could make clinical trials more inclusive, practical and low-cost, increasing trial participation and the potential for long-term follow-up of participants.

Dr Emma Tallantyre (PI, Cardiff) has been awarded funding from the MS Society UK to investigate the feasibility of remotely collecting clinical assessment data, and its validity compared with in-person assessments.

Recruitment to the study has begun in Cardiff and will be extended to participants in Nottingham, Swansea and Gwent. Participants will be asked to complete a 25-foot timed walk and 9-hole peg test at home and report their results online. They will also complete a web-based Symbol Digit Modalities Test and a questionnaire to determine Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score. Scores will be compared with those acquired at people’s DELIVER-MS in-person assessments.
